Where'd that week go?

Hi there! Sorry for my week-long absence. I tell you - I didn't really realize I'd been missing that long! Last weekend we traveled back to Illinois for my cousin's wedding, which was really nice. The bride of course was beautiful and the reception was a fun time had by all. The start of this week was sort of spent recovering, but I think we're back into the swing of things.

In my painting life I've been working on a few commissions, so I haven't been sharing a lot of my progress. I will let you see when I'm done and I have some happy folks on the other end of things! Ha. When I'm not working on those, which are mostly watercolor, I've been exploring some more abstract designs on the wood panels. This one was a pretty exciting departure for me, so I've been letting that line of thought take me in some new directions.

I just listed this one today here, and I'm really pleased with how the colors turned out:

I also have the one below (a big one! 24x24) in progress and so far I like it a lot. It's mostly acrylic, but I've started layering in some colored pencil, which seems to be doing the trick. For real - I am SO in love with these wood panels. The lines are just so different! I've also decided that all of the blue I've been using lately has been a subconscious cry for rain. As a person built strictly for jean and cardigan weather, I could go for a solid week of thunderstorms about now. We have a 30% chance for this evening, so the fingers are crossed!

I love both of your new paintings, they are beautiful! The colors are awesome. I agree about the rain. I love being inside when it's raining outside, it is so cozy and makes me want to curl up under a blanket :)
