House News!

We are officially moving! It has been a few months of searching, but we've found a new rental house (vs our current townhouse) and we'll be moving at the end of this month. It's such a relief to finally find something both in our price range and meeting our criteria. I am so relieved to be done stalking craigslist and realty sites. There wasn't anything particularly wrong with our current location, but it just didn't have the space we wanted or the ability to decorate and work in a real yard. Even though we're still renting, the idea of being in a house feels so much more grown up. I'm a house sort of person, an obsession that may have shown up in a few of my recent paintings. I'm a collector of things, and the idea of arranging and nesting pretty much sums me up. :-)

I am super excited because there are rooms to spare, which means one of them is going to become an art room! Yay! Other highlights include a much more open kitchen, an adjoining dining room, a fenced in yard for Scout, and space and freedom for gardening. It's a very old house, which I love, and it has features that I find pretty charming - old woodwork, really tall kitchen cabinets, etc. I wish I had some good pictures to share, but that'll have to wait. In the meantime, my head is ready to explode as I think about all of the possibilities! This means that I'm going to keep my shop in vacation-mode while we pack up and haul out of here, since my new printer hasn't even arrived yet anyway, and I'll plan to be back up in early June. I'll keep blogging though and share my house inspirations with you.

One of the first items on my list is to find a pile of curtains for the many windows we'll acquire! I can't be more happy to be rid of vertical blinds, which I despise. See below some of the window draperies that I'm admiring. :-)

I know exactly what you mean. We are currently in an apartment, but I can't wait to have a house (even if it is just a rental) How lucky of you to find a gem in Omaha! Good luck with the decorating!

ps. Love the yellow chevron curtain. Fantastic!
